Can anybody tell me if I have this right?

I was told to put my apple seeds that I got out of the core on a paper towel and put them in the fridge to germinate, which it seems they're doing but they're discolouring the paper towel. Also, the last few days they don't seem to be changing at all and I fear that I may have damaged them. I only found out about the micro-roots two days ago and before I would move them everyday, although there is a hole in the side of most of the seeds.

    Should I be concerned?

    Are they rotting?
