help with filling space and covering wall (pic included)

    as u can see from the pic i have a huge laurel , either side i find it difficult to grow stuff cos of the light, any ideas of what can fill the spaces and cover the horrid wall???? thks

    i tried solarium (spelt wrong )to the right but it keeps growing toward the light so might have to move it. any ideas people..

    Climbing Hydrangea would be nice. I don't think that wall is all that horrible.

    I like the wall too. Maybe you could grow something in large tubs in front of it as feature plantings. Shade plants also include ordinary Hydrangea. Ferns of some sort that grow in your area...... If you are not keen on the wall use some sort of screening on it like bamboo....or maybe be dareing and paint it some interesting colour to go with some sort of planting. Or you could try a water feature. There are many self contained ones. Use an arch out from the wall where there is more sun and plant a rose or something else over it t and add some ceramic pots so it does not look just like an arch stuck out in front. You could even build a sitting area using the wall as backdrop and maybe paving a little bit out infront and adding some pots.

    ok kool its not that i hate the wall, i just feel my garden this side is a bity empty, will herbacious plants do will in these areas do u think?? thnks for the good comments & suggestions!

    i was thinking of cutting the laurel down, an expensive job to replant and have a big screen as im overlooked without this. hmmm maybe id better keep the laurel...

    You could limb that laurel way up so you still have the screening and then it would provide more light for your perennials.
