Hello, I used to have a Stomatium patulum, very similar to the one on the alpine garden pictures. By xmas, it was transplanted to a new bigger pot with lots of sempervivums and echeverrias spp. so that it might be happier (happy in a plant way). Anyway, before that it was fine, but after like three weeks it dies really fast, and now a plant that looks very similar to my deceased stomatium is also dying on the same pot. The soil was totally new and I do not think the problem is water so my guess is that they just could not take the transplanting in winter. Does anyone have any insights on what could be the problem with them? By the way, one of the sempervivums also died, but only one head out of about 6 or 7. The other ones around it are still fine. Thankyou Camilo
Where are you gardening? Although it is grown in our Alpine garden, Stomatium patulum is a South African plant, and therefore is not really hardy locally. It requires a minimum temperature of 45 degrees F. or 7 degrees C. And we had a prolonged cold snap after Christmas.
