Hello, I’m having a problem with my dragon tree, I have had it 2 months with no problems but all of a sudden its loosing all of it leaves. I have a plant with 2 trunks and it seems to really be affecting the smaller of the 2. I have lost all the leaves on 2 of the smaller branches and I think the rest will fall off in the next day or 2. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks
I water once the top part of the soil gets dry about every 2 weeks or so, I also spray the leaves with water every few days. The plant gets indirect sun light, today I moved it into direct sunlight for a few hours and I will continue until it stops shedding leaves. I now have 2 branches completely bare of leaves, will the plant re-grow leaves it I can save it. Thanks
You should let the soil pretty much dry out before re-watering dracaenas. The top may feel dry, but down below it's probably staying wet or moist and possibly causing rot. The pot size should only be like an inch larger than the rootball, most plants like it snug. Cold or hot temps/drafts/pest/overpotting/heavy soil might be other reasons for the leaf drop. I might check the rootball and make sure the roots are healthy and not mushy. if they look ok and it's getting everything else it needs, you should see some new leaves. Cuttings from the healthy parts of the stems for propagation might be another option if the roots are or have rotted. Oh, you don't need to mist it:>) that alone CAN keep the soil moist or wet and all that really does is clean the leaves.
