Help with Almond tree problem

I live in northern Arizona (zone7) and have an almond tree that is not doing well and I was wondering if anyone can help me identify the problem or tell me what might help.
I ma attaching a couple of pictures, as you can see from the second one there is a lot of sap coming out on a couple of the limbs. I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

 

Borers perhaps?
