I need help with the name of a plant. My wife bought the plant at 1st Monday in Canton, TX last spring. She potted it and left it on a porch, it lasted until the first frost and is an annual. We were told it was a lipstick plant when we bought it, but I've searched the web and it was not a lipstick plant. The plant had no flower and the tips of the leaves were pink. The stem and rest of the leaves were dark green. Any help would be appreciated.

Neoregelia spectabilis, a bromeliad that is sometimes called Lipstick or Painted Fingernail.

That would be my first guess, because I happen to have a couple of dozen in my yard. Started with just one...

The color is very close, but the plant she had was more like a vine.

I am very sorry to say that I do not have any photos of the plant. It was annual.
