Y'ALL, My original message re: this plant was posted in April, '07--please see for more details. 'Personal Business' has kept me away, but I'm back, and have even more curiosity !!!! I have a Schlumbergera that has been 'in my Family' for over 100 years. My Mother, who is 90, remembers this (then) "....very unusual plant..." blooming thru her childhood. I, too, remember it as spectacular in my Childhood, in the '50's !!! No living relative can tell me anything about the plants' "Origion"/"how it got here", etc. All do, however, remember it's spectacular Blooms. This was a VERY UNUSUAL PLANT to be in BRASLETON, GA. during the early 20th. Century !!! It's 'behavior' and 'appearance' are significantly different from the "Hybridized" "Christmas Cactus" we see today; I believe it has the Old Original DNA !! I'm fortunate to still have 'what's left' of this Early Specimen Plant !!! Can Anyone Help with Info, regarding "Origin", 'how plant ended up' in North Georgia in 1913, etc. ??? I'm going to attempt to send along a few PIX,,,but,,,,I ain't exactly a Computer Wiz (this Digital Devil still confuses me !!!). Hope they come thru, and I look forward to anyones Info !!!! Thanks, regards,,,,,, PAUL WAYNE
http://cactus.biology.dal.ca/paulS/christmas/christmas.html This is an interesting web link. I have some Peonies from my great grandmother that she brought over from Finland at the turn of the century. They are quite different than the common cultivars being sold today. I also have a Sansevieria (Mother-in-Laws Tongue) that has been in the family for at least 100 years. Old plants like these hold quite a bit of sentimental value...true living heirlooms. I am hoping to inherit some of my grandfather's plants some day. You might want to contact a Cacti & Succulent Society or botanical garden in your area, as they are likely to have further information regarding the origins of your plant. I, too, would enjoy seeing some photos.

Paul, When you make your next post, look up in the tool bar where it has "Fonts, sizes, etc." You should see a little icon that looks like a paper clip. Click onto the paper clip. It will direct you to an "upload file" page. When you click onto a "find file" icon, it will open up your computer to all your files. Pick a photo you want, click accept or yes (however your computer asks you). Once the photo is ready for uploading, you will see the file name (IMG-XXXX) or whatever you named it. A few inches down you will see the "upload file/attachment" icon. Click that. In a few seconds it will tell you that you've uploaded the file. Next, return to your post. Submit reply when you are ready and it should show up here in the forum.
