This picture is not the best, but can anyone tell me what this plant is? It is about a foot tall and is growing in the pasture. The blooms are pea like and are about a 1/2 in long and the leaves are very slender and about two inches long. Thanks for your help.
Just by the shape of the leaves and geography. I may be wrong, of course - this is another possibility.
These species seem highly under documentated in terms of available photographies, however, unless pictures are wrongly labeled, the flowers of these Desmodium species look quite different from the plant we can see in this thread.
This paper might be relevant to our problem: http://www.cals.ncsu.edu/plantbiology/ncsc/vulpia/pdf/Krings, Desmodium.pdf Although not all key features are available from the photograph, but using just the leaves brings us to the two species I mentioned above.
Thanks for your help. Using your starting point I did more research and found out the plant is Crotalaria lanceolata. I had found a picture of the bloom earlier but the leaves did not match, so after reading your posts I started looking for plants with the lance like leaves. This plant stuff is so confusing to a beginner. Thanks again for your help.
