A fast growing grass is showing up in many parts of my lawn. I did not have it last year (at least not as much as this year) and I am trying to identify and (hopefully) find a way to get rid of it. Does anybody know what grass is it and if there is a weed control product that I can use to kill it?

I believe this grass came with the seeds that a contractor used to overseed the lawn last year or were activated with the core aeration (as many other weeds were activated).

It resembles Elbon Rye. If it is that grass or any other annual species the
only thing to do it mow it regularly to prevent blooming/reseeding.
It will die off on it's own. A preemergent herbicide may be used next
August if you still find it returning. It's too late this year for treatment.
