Need some help to ID plants. The first picture is a tree that has only one flower! (I have two of them, one flower each). The second picture shows what looks like a hosta but I am not sure. Have no idea about the other three. Thanks
Number one looks like a Lilac - Syringa spp. I had Russian ones that looked like that... Number two are Lily of the Valley, Convallaria majalis. Number three is in the Lamiaceae, my knee-jerk reaction is Penstemon, but it could also be a Salvia, or a number of other things. Numbers four and five remind me of Rhus spp but I'm not entirely sure.
Watch that last one - Bishop's Aegopodium podagraria 'Variegatum'. It had made life miserable for me at our last property. It was very invasive, and very difficult to get rid of. It popped up everywhere in the garden. A new plant can regenerate just with a small piece of rhizome with a single intact node.
Thanks for all the information. I only have the Aegopodium in two areas of my garden, and so far has kept localized, but I will follow up on it.
One other note on Aegopodium: the flowers are highly allergenic. If you suddenly develop severe hay-fever when out in the garden, chuck the aegopodium out first.
