I am currently working on the northern shores of Long Island, NY and came across this thorn bush bearing fruit/berries. Can someone please identify what kind of plant/bush this is. Thanks!

The species is a vigorous ornamental shrub that was introduced from Asia in the 19th century, now having been naturalized in northeastern North America. At least in Europe, it is nowadays considered as a noxious weed because is it a strong competitor that beats out the original vegetation and ecosystems. The original flora may become replaced by an inpenetrable thorny thicket.
