Can anyone out there identify this palm?

Also, it seems to have a fern type plant growing up where the new leaves are, and an abundance of dirt and dead plant (old fern?) on the main "trunk". Is this some type of parasite plant or is it natural? I would like to get rid of the "extra" plant if possible it looks ugly & infested. What do you think?

Looks like Butia capitata, a.k.a. Pindo Palm (or Pindo Plam if you prefer ;-)

The extra foliage is an epiphytic fern, which is just using the palm as a support; it won't harm the palm
