Identification: Help please..spiky palm typed gem!

    Hi all
    I am desperate to find out what this is as i can't care for it..too much water, too little..it's leaves keep dropping no matter what i do!

    Looks like Pachypodium lamerei, Madagascar Palm.

    Note Pachypodium lamerei is a succulent, not a palm.

    yeah i have done loads of ereasearch and realise that..must explain why it doesn't react well to watering!

    Keep it in a relatively small pot with about an inch to spare between the plant and inside wall of the pot with good draining soil of course and only water it (thoroughly) when totally dry and it should do fine.
