our cedar hedge 40-50 feet tall /same width approx has been brutally hacked away on neighbours side; we are too exposed !!! Desperately need to re create inexpensive /creative screen in between. We thought of growing ivy in the crotches/tall bamboo inbetween in pots or sacks? what will actually grow? its dark and very cedar acid ground thank you!

Maybe plant more cedars. You know they will grow on that site, and after they get some size will blend better with existing remainders of hedge than completely different plants.
