I purchased this vine tonight at a nursery. It was labeled Hummingbird Vine, yet looks nothing like a trumpet vine or creeper. These things started sprouting up on one corner of my garden just this spring. And the rest of the plants were here when we moved in, but I have no idea what they are! Any help is greatly appreciated! Plant 1: Plant 2: Plant 3:
Vine: Cardinal climber (Ipomoea x multifida) Volunteer: Mirabilis jalapa Plant #2: Columbine (Aquilegia) Plant #3: Oriental lily hybrid (Lilium)
The volunteer (mirabilis jalapa) is a very sweet smelling nite bloomer common name of '4 o'clock'. Mine are messed up because instead of opening at 4 pm, they typically open at about 5:45 pm. Great plant. Watch the cups at the base of the flowers for collectable seeds about three days after the bloom falls off.
