A friend just gave me this indoor plant as a present, but she didn't know the name of it. Could you please help me? I'd love to take good care of it. Thanks.

Looks like a Codiaeum cultivar, possibly 'Gold Star', Croton.

Thanks Junglekeeper! I looked up what you had suggested and found "Codiaeum variegatum punctatum aureum". Not having been good in Biology through school, could I assume that "Gold Star Croton" is the more common name for the one I've found? Also, do you have any suggestions as to how I may best care for this plant? Thanks.

There are many variations or cultivars of Codiaeum. I am uncertain as to the official botanical name for each but it appears 'Gold Star' is Codiaeum variegatum var. pictum 'Gold Star'. Yes, Gold Star Croton would be the common name.
