Hi there; I have this peace lilly for a while now and it is slowly deteriorating since I bought it (in the winter), and surprisingly it is doing worse in the summer. What am I doing wrong? Anyone ? Please...............Thanks.
It looks like it's either too dry or too wet - how often do you water? Does the pot have drainage holes?
I have no rule, but on average twice a week. It is really hot in here (not that hot, maybe 35C in the day). Is there anychance that it could be something else, like a fertilizing issue or something?
I would say probably too wet. There are different schools of thought about peace lily care, but I have had the best results giving plants a thorough soaking, then waiting until the leaves begin to droop before soaking thoroughly again.
I'd say too wet as well. Peace Lilies are native to the upper Amazon forests here where I live, and the temperatures there routinely go above 35 C, so the heat isn't a problem for it. I'd go with Mr. Subjunctive on this, and if you choose to re-pot, make sure it's into a very loose soil medium - something like 25% peat or coir, 25% bark chips, 25% leaf mulch, and 25% actual potting soil. This holds moisture, but doesn't compact around the roots when it's wet, and water will run through it quite quickly.
