This plant has just sprung up in my yard. The flowers are very fragrant. The plant has almost a "nutty" smell to it. The green fruit-like growths are very prickly.

    Hello Merg,

This is a datura. It is a fairly common weed and sometimes used as an ornamental. It is very toxic, so be aware if you have children around. This plant comes up often for identification here. You can search the forums (search function is on the green bar at the top) or the web for "datura" or "Jimson weed" for more information.

It shurely is a Datura stramonium. Used by some indians as a drug with special care, cause it is a deadly poison.
