i traded plant this spring with other gardeners on line, and i planted with great anticipation some "cabbage" and "Pumpkin", neither of which seem to be exactly what they said it was...also there is a strange third plant that i don't know, sort of like a chinese lantern but it is growing something inside and i wonder what it is...

can some one help me identify?

    don't know the first one.

the second is some kind of squash - could be pumpkin. it could be something like butternut though or maybe one of the gourd types.

the last one is definitely chinese lantern. it's a nice plant with a decent flower...is VERY invasive though!! you'll want to get those 'lanterns' off before they split open and spread the seeds.

First is something in the family Brassicaceae, could well be a bolted cabbage plant.
