Help me identify my mystery tree

    Please help me identify a tree in the northern Virginia/DC area. Picture taken today May 8, 2007

    I'll be interested to see what other people say, but since you are in my neck of the woods, I've got to take a stab at it.

    It looks like the tree has palmate compound leaves, which to me says "horse-chestnut."

    Looking around for pink-flowered horse-chestnuts, I found Aesculus carnea.

    Another vote for Aesculus × carnea.

    It is a hybrid between Aesculus hippocastanum and Aesculus pavia.
