    Hello,

I am a bit outside your area, but this forum group seems to be lively and knowledgeable, so I will give it a go.

My tree is a eucalyptus, but I am unsure of the variety. It is quite large, around 80ft tall, as calculated by its shadow relative to another known object and its shadow at the same time of day.

I am interested in this tree because it is in my front yard and I 1) love the tree, and 2) am concerned that it might be growing taller than what is safe, being that it is so close to my house and that we have high winds and that I know eucalyptus can be very brittle. I thought it might be prudent to find the variety out of the hundreds of eucs out there before I go asking advice on pruning and maintenance.

Much thanks for your time and knowledge!

    Regards,
Matt, in the desert, East of San Diego.
