Help me identify flowering tree

    Please help me identify a flowering tree on our property. It's about 15 feet tall. The leaves about 2-3" long with smooth edges, and are attached across from each other. It flowers in June here in SoCal. See the photo attached. Thank you.

    Also, it's seed pods are round with small spikes all around. The pods open into five wedges shaped like sections of an orange.

    Looks like Calodendrum capense
