I have had these two plants for a couple years. The green plant is in danger because the leaf edges dry turn brown and start cracking, then leaf dies and another appears. It used to have larger leaves with maroon veins underneath. Any ideas what plant this is and what is wrong? I added a close up of the leaves since they are so small. The purple one, I think is a Calathea Roseo Picta. It also is starting to have a few crispy brown edges. Am I hurting it some way? Is the pot too small?
Brown leaf edges on the Calathea Roseo Picta means that the humidity is too low. Calatheas need higher humidity especially if kept inside. Mist regularly with a light spray of water. You can also sit the pot on a tray of pebbles that has water in it. Don't let the actual plant sit in the water though or it will drown. Other than that the plant looks good. I don't know what the other plant is but it looks like it needs more light. It has gone leggy trying to reach light. Move to a brighter position but not into full sun.
