    Hello,
I am new, and would like help identifying a plant I found growing in my flower bed. I know i have seen it before, but cannot remember where or what it is. Any help would be appreciated!

You forgot to mention the peculiar odor.

Its Ailanthus altissima, The ironically named "Tree of Heaven"

Its one of the worst of the weed trees. Get rid of it ASAP!!!

Thank you for your reply, but I went out and checked, and it doesn't have an odor. Also, there are no more than 4 leaf segments on a stem. From the pictures I could find, ailanthus has leaf segments all up and down the stem?

Look for larger examples of similarly leaved trees or shrubs in the vicinity.

Thank you all for your input. If I live in the country, and need trees (because this area was a river bed) would it still be such a bad tree? At least it is in a pot now, so if I have to, I can get rid of it.

Well, it is not listed as a noxious weed in Colorado. However, it is a weed particularly of open-air river courses, so I'd say it's not worth the risk. Better to find something more suitable.

In some places, once established it can be near-impossible to remove by the way (so it's not a "change-your-mind" kind of tree). An acquaintance battled for years trying to remove one from his backyard in SE Washington.
