Hey everyone. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Growing up, I lived next to neighbors who had plants running along side their house, and I'd like to grow some of them myself.

The plants were leafy green with small (about 3-5 centimeters across) red flowers. They were bush-like, but not really full enough to be considered a hedge. They were about a half a meter high, but their most distinguishing feature was their seeds. The seeds were black, slightly oblong in shape (slightly pointed on the top, and flatter on the bottom), and about a half a centimeter in diameter. When the plant matured (but before it dried out), you could see the black seed just sitting there in its own individual 'pocket'. Sometimes when you went to grab it, it would fall out on its own.

The plants were there every year, and I'm fairly certain they didn't plant them every year, so I guess that makes them perennials. Can't be sure about that though.

I apologize if that's sketchy, and thanks again for any help.

in your zone, they're not perennials...they just self-seed very easily.
