Hi all This is my first post being new to this forum. My wife bought this plant years ago and I don't even know where she may have picked it up. It is quit a number of years old by now however for years it virtually sat still barely hanging on to life in a very small container. It sat on the refrigerator in our kitchen with only indirect light from a back door window and survived only because it was extremely drought tolerant. It consisted only of what I refer to as dangle dandies, the long thin threads that hang straight down. My wife passed away and only then did I decide to move it into our living room and give it a larger pot and richer soil to live in, in a south facing window with some direct light. It responded immediately by producing the large flat leaves, which you see spreading out from the top of the pot. In the past two years it has made remarkable growth and shown considerable variation in its growth habits with a variety of leaf termination, which you may and may not be able to make out from the picture that I have attached. Sorry for the long post but any help in identifying this plant would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Ron
No, those are part of the same plant and all that existed for years, the flat leaves that have since emerged from the crown were a surprise and the previous reply indicated it is a Epiphyllum and that also suggests I can expect it to bloom if I handle it properly.
