Hello, This is my first time posting on this site! I was wondering if anyone could tell me what type of grapevine this is...the grapes become purple in colour once ripe. Thank you.
I don't think they're cultivated grapes. Rather the wild ones that are native in many areas. There are many species. Could be Vitis palmata. Edible, but not exactly table grapes.
Thank you for both of your replies....I looked up both suggestions on the internet and the leaves appear to closely match the concord variety... When the grapes are ripe all I have noticed is that they are a deep purple and they taste VERY sour until fully ripe at which point they either fall off the vine or the birds get them!!!
Hi, Then it’s a concord grape. Very popular. Lots of seeds, thick purple skin and white inside, right? That is the kind of grape that Welch’s grape juice is from. They aren’t table grapes, but are perfect for jelly, juice and wine. A very low maintenance variety. M.
Thank you sooo much! You are right!!! I forgot that they were white inside!! Now I just have to get some good recipes and continue learning how to prune it and tie it up!! Thanks again!
