This is a "SUCCULENT" I bought at a cactus show some years ago,and I have posted elsewhere to try and get an identity on it,but they keep saying it is a shefflera, which I KNOW it is not..

I am hoping someone will recognize this plant..And ignore the date on the picture, they were just taken today. The pics do not do the color justice, there is no yellow in the leaves, and they droop like this until they can be taken outside for summer.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

I looked the name up,and it does look similar to some of the pics I saw,I did notice that it said that they have a milky sap. This one oozes clear droplets around the leaf stems, which can be seen in the pic, which ANTS SEEM TO LOVE...LOL..OH,and,it has never flowered nor given any sign of flowering.

I can post other pics as needed if asked.

I see that I have gotten one reply,Thanks Ron,and the tree you said looks very close..I am asking if anyone else has any idea of what it may be.Everyone else who has seen the picture SWEARS it is A schefflera.I dont know if they are being fooled by the fact that the leaf in a pic or two looks shiny, which they are not actually, the flash from the camera merely made it look that way..
They are actually a bit fuzzy, and have no meatiness to them whatsoever.

I have had this plant for 4 years and it has never bloomed, only grows sets of leaves which drop off as it keeps extending, even in the summertime when it is getting GREAT SUN,and good water.

It is as happy as a clam in the summer and puts off leaves, but they drop off within a month or so automatically.

I remember finding the name which came with it in a cactus and succulent book,in a few as a matter of fact, and I know it was not schleffera..

I am not sure where else to look or ask to find out what this plant is.

    Thank you for your time..

    Kevin

I'd agree with schefflera, and give it more light!

Liz,it does look like that, but it does not hold its leaves,it drops them and grows on..it is not due to lack of anything, just seems the way it has been for the 5 years I have had it..I have seen its scientific name in cactus and succulent books when I first got it,but I have now forgotten what it was.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Kevin Hi
as I understand succulents this does not fit. There are hundreds of Umbrella trees [A thought just occured it's not an avacado, nope I think the leaves are really not right for that.]

Just put the word schefflera into image search in google lot's of pics. Some of them do droop like yours leaves. best of luck in finding it. May be the nursery can help.

It is definitely not an avocado.

It may, however, be a Cecropia.

Definitely not a succulent. Its not even a pachycaul.

It looks rather like a Pseudobombax ellipticum (often still mislabled as Bombax ellipticum) that lost its caudex.

STEVE!!!! I believe you have hit the nail on the head...I dont believe that was the name which was on the tag when I got it,but the plants I see when I look it up,look exactly like it.The red leaves at first growth turning to green, and also,it has not ever bloomed.and last thing,do the bottle brushes TEAR up with clear drops of sap along some leaf edges.

But it has never flowered for me,but this may be due to the fact that we live in oklahoma and bring it in every winter?!?!?!

Any more info you can give us,we are also searching the web on propagation, getting it to put out more than "ONE" stalk,I would love to especially see it grow some more stalks, although if one looks closely at one of the pics I have posted,it is getting a new leaf out of an old stalk,as I the "NOOB" would call it..LOL

    Thank you.
    Kevin
