Looks like flowers might be needed... I wouldn't ingest any part of it without knowing what it is.

Probably needs to get much bigger before it will flower, looks shrubby.

It is definitely a flowering plant. Whether conditions are (or ever will be) right for it to flower is another matter.

I agree with Toutlan: It does look like an avacado tree. What kind though I couldn't even begin to guess. If it was started from an avacado pit I don't know that it will ever bear fruit.

I agree, it looks like a young Avocado tree.

    Ricecooker,
What part of the plant is supposed to be eaten to benefit from it's cholesterol lowering effect?

Newt, I think WG was trying to figure out what ricecooker was told re: lowering cholesterol as an attempt to confirm (or suggest other alternatives) for the identification of the original posted plant.

Sort of. It sounded to me that WG wanted to know what part of this as-yet-unidentified plant (which strongly resembles an avocado to some (as for me, I've no idea)) was purported to help lower cholesterol, thereby perhaps giving a clue to its identity. If it was the fruit to be ingested, then that would add weight to the suggestion that it is indeed an avocado.
