Does it have milky sap? If so a could be a Euphorbia. Perhaps something like Euphorbia bicompacta 'Rubra', which used to be known as Synadenium compactum or Synadenium grantii. You can see images of it at http://www.botanicalstockphotos.com/photos-euphorbia-1175.htm .
Thank you! I believe you're right...it looks most like the synadiem grantii. Thank you! It's taken us forever to try to figure out what this plant is and how to take care of it. Someone told us African plumeria but I guess the other name is African Milk Bush. Thanks a ton!
