I’ve got wildflowers growing on our west facing patio, and about once per week I come out to find several leaves, or seed pods gone - but only off of one plant (which I think is mustard). There is some digging happening in this planter, in the corners, not near the plants that have been attacked. My bulbs are still intact.

I also have had something eating my dill and basil in a 3 foot raised garden bed. The dill was well established, and disappeared completely in two days. The basil has also been ravaged. I sprinkled some cayenne pepper on the basil, and that seems to have stopped the pest, but as you can see the damage is done.

I need some help sorting out what this is. I have put up tinfoil just in case it is birds. I do not see any beetles or caterpillars when I go searching. There are ants in both planters, but not an excessive amount, and they control my aphids, so I’m happy with them!

It might be cutworms, which do their damage at night. However, they usually chew on the base of the plants, not the leaves or tips.
