I live in southeastern Wisconsin and am wondering what I came across yesterday (in a friend's front yard)...The bark of this tree/bush looked like a birch, but I could only see it upon "diving" into the full foliage on it. The leaves were long and thin and a beautiful deep green. It looked kind of tropical. The fruit had the feel of a tennis ball (velvety soft) and was light green (about the size of a silver dollar in diameter). Upon cutting it open, it kind of looked like an almond and smelled somewhat like a cross between almond and pumpkin. I looked into what almond trees look like and this definitely is NOT that. I don't know when it was planted, but was about 6 feet tall x 6 feet wide. You only see the limbs and fruit of the tree/bush when parting the leaves as it is very "full". It looks kind of like a bunch of pom-poms sprouting out (and sounds like it too if you "rustle" it!) Any help/guesses would be appreciated.

Wow - you are really good, Ron - that's GOT to be it as the fruit does look like a tiny green peach!!! Many thanks - it's really a lovely tree and wanted so much to find out what it was! :)
