Hi there. I'm currently working in an emergency animal hospital. One of our patients may have ingested this fruit. It is growing on a tree in the clients backyard. It would be useful to know if the plant has any toxic principles, but we first need to know what it is. Thanks for any help you can offer!
Looks like the fruit from a Cornus Kousa, aka Kousa Dogwood tree. The fruit is edible according to this website: http://www.hort.uconn.edu/Plants/c/corkou/corkou1.html "dull, raspberry red, pendant fruits when ripe ripe fruits look somewhat like large raspberries unripe, green fruits, stand upright along the stems ripening occurs form late august through October fruits are mealy, but edible fruit display can be showy"
