    Cinnamomum camphora I believe.

    If you have scripts blocked they don't show. I "partially allowed" scripts and saw three nice shots, including one showing the fruits. There are other species of Cinnamomum grown in California, don't know enough about them to be sure the species suggested was exactly the right one. But the leaves shown make me think another is possible.

    Thanks! The way the photo was sent to me won't allow me to post directly. My friend seem to think this is a Privet-still thinks it is-but I think I agree with you. The tree will only smell like camphor if stems or leaves are crushed right? The tree should not smell just standing there-is that correct?
