Please help! A friend of mine gave me a start of what she called "bamboo". This plant grows along side of her house, very tall and very invasive. It spreads by runners a foot or so under the ground. I really don't think this is a true bamboo, can anyone help?

You are so very correct! It is knotweed and is terribly invasive. You may want to use "search" on this site and share the info with your friend.

Boil it thoroughly (at least 20 minutes) before planting.
