Help identify WNC tree or plant

    I found this little tree or shrub below a large hemlock or white pine. I thought it had a good leaf size and cool stem for use in bonsai. I initially thought it was boxwood, but the leaves have a very slight toothed edge. Thanks for your help!

    It resemble Ilex vomitoria.
    Common Names: yaupon, yaupon holly

    Thanks a lot for the accurate ID. Turns out a lot of people use this species as bonsai. As far as I can remember, this is the first one I have seen in the area. I work in landscaping and I am outside all the time. I guess you have to open your mind to open your eyes (I just got into bonsai and now am looking for usable plants).
