Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me identify this plant. It is a volunteer in Chilliwack this year.
Yes, this one is Lupins! Popular and beautiful. Grows 24-36" in height, long stems packed with bloom in a rainbow of colors. Mid to back of flowerbed placement. Spreads 24 inches. Many perennial gardeners can't do without Lupin.
There are many species varying in stature, but this plant does look like it is a big one - probably pretty much has to be L. polyphyllus with leaves that large (on this side of the mountains).
Hi, there! Yep! That side of the mountains. On the other side of the mountains...is Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and then Ontario. I am from British Columbia and checked in since I miss B.C. Hope that since UBC has always been an open minded institution for education, excepting people from all over the world, that no one minds anyone learning something new and sharing what they can, (since that side of the mountains) is part of Canada too! Oh by the way, Sundrop asked, "Lupinus?" I replied with an agreement, "Lupins" yes. This is suppose to be a helpful and kind minded site, yes? One more thing, I intend to continue to participate, learn and share on this forum through the UBC site. You should see the Lupins in my garden on this side of the mountains and it is only the third week in June. Fourteen two foot spikes full of flower. So, this middle aged woman may know some things and while still has much to learn (as we all have since most of us can't split the atom) will be as "laid back" as usual. O.K? Let's carry on! Cheers!
