I would appreciate your help in identifying this plant. Took a picture on my trip to Bangalore, India. I suspect the plant is not native to India. It grows about 6-12 inches tall and has a spreading habit. Yellow daisy like flowers blanket the plant. The leaves are leathery and the undersides of the leaves are powdery white. I am attaching a picture which unfortunately does not have the numerous flowers that adorn a mature plant. Would this plant be hardy to USDA zone 7b?
It could be a Calendula, (which is a very popular plant in India for its edible flowers) but quite honestly it's very difficult to ID the composite-group flowers without seeing the actual blooms.
Thanks Lorax. It does appear to be some sort of Calendula. The blooms are very similar to the ones in this article.. http://www.dallasplanttrials.org/Articles/Rising_Stars/Calendula Skyfire/CalendulaSkyfire.pdf. But the leaves of the plant I saw are very shiny and leathery unlike the Skyfire variety.
