This plant has been growing in my garden this past year. I have no idea what it is but I do know I didn't plant it. It is now seven feet tall and has spikey balls all over the branches and stem. It attracts ants to the more mature balls which then produces tubular orange flowers from the balls.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your quick response to my query. I never thought to have one of these show up in eastern Ontario but there you go.
    Thanks again.

    Isn't coincidence weird.
As a Plantaholic, I was visiting a nursery on 30th September to see if they had anything interesting for me to buy!
They had this tall plant with orange flowers. It was very special. I had never seen it for sale before. .... so took a few pics. Now downloaded and labelled.
Would have loved to buy it, but wasn't sure if it would be hardy.

Just 3 days later the self same flower appears on these forums!
