help identify this KS tree

    Definitely looks like a pear tree. I know we have Pyrus calleryana in KS. I'm not sure about Pyrus chanticleer. Thanks for your response!

    To me it is the shiney leaves that says Pyrus calleryana..
    Chanticleer is one we have here...upright form

    As far as I'm aware, Pyrus 'Chanticleer' is just one of many named cultivars of Pyrus calleryana. I'd just call this Pyrus calleryana unless you can get any definitive info from where it was bought (if it was!) stating it is a particular named cultivar. All the self-sown seedlings of course do not have cultivar names.

    Forgot Chanticleer was not sp name that Calleryana is!
    Stupid error...sorry ..so used to just calling it Pyrus chanticleer...cos that was what we grew.
