Help identify bush- calicancer

Please help me to identify a bush that is in my Mom's yard. Older people call it a 'calicancer' not sure of spelling. It has dark green leaves and very dark red small flowers that are aromatic and velvety. It has grown quite large and is 7-8 feet tall and 6-feet wide. Thank you

 

This may be the Carolina allspice, Calycanthus floridus

That is it-- I have never seen this plant anywhere else.

 

There is a nursery in Langley that sells them, 5 gallon pots about 4 to 6 feet tall. message me if you want to know which nursery.
