Identification: Help ID Plant

    I have a large houseplant someone gave me but need help identifying it...I am new at these forums so will try to attach a pic. Thanks for any help!

    Dieffenbachia of some sort.

    Maybe a Dieffenbachia picta
     
  4. This is a deiffenbachia - If you find it gets too tall, you can actually cut the stem into 8 inch "logs" and root them in plain water - don't get any milk on you - burns like hell! This plant takes a long time to root, but you'll get a new plant from every log you cut from the stem. I was given one years ago and now have seven in the same pot - looks great! They like a lot of sun, but not a lot of water - they like to dry out really good. I clean my leaves witth water and a few drops of olive oil - keeps the spider mites off and makes the leaves really shiny - don't use too much oil though - could suffocate the plant.
