Hello, We were given this plant to start (from I quess you would call it a proliferation). When we got it, it was on a rigid stem, much like a orchids stem. Ther were two of these proliferations together, we cut them off and started them in water. The gentlemen that gave them to us said they were a house plant and that he put them out during the summer months. It sends up a beautiful flower he said (we have not seen one). The mother plant he said had leaves about 18-20" long. A plant his father had given him from a friend that managed the Queen Elizabeth Botanical Gardens in Vancouver. Thank you for any help.
Possibly an Amaryllis (sp) .. if it sends up one single bloom stalk then im sure it is .. hopefully someone will come in soon and give there answer.. Marion
I cannot thank you all enough for helping me identify this plant. I looked the names up on the internet and called the fella that gave us the plant to ask a few more questions. It is the Neomarica 'gracilis' (Walking Iris, Apostle's Iris) as mentioned. Thanks again. We will see how it does. Looks interesting.
