I don't know very much about plants, but we inherited this one when my boyfriends mom died, and it's really beautiful on top of being meaningfull to us. It is very very sick, the leaves never fold out totally, there are flat 'scabs' ALL over the plant, and everything is covered in sticky stuff. I don't have a full-figure shot of it, it is very tall and slim... I hope someone can identify it anyway.
It looks like a Corkscrew Willow with a bad case of Scale. It may be too late to save it, but if you want to try I'd suggest a systemic insecticide labeled for use on scale insects in trees. HTH Chris
