I have two 40 blue spruce trees in front of my house. One of them is losing its bark. The tree man I consulted said he had never seen it before, but that it wasn't a good sign. He said it looked like some kind of bruise. Another person said that he wouldn't trust the tree through another hard winter.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to lose the trees if I don't have to, but on the other hand, if they are weakening, I don't want them to crash into the house.

I live in Sheridan, Wyoming, USA. I have watered these trees over the years.

Best way to get a second opinion is to have a qualified party view the trees and the site in person.

Ask your local horticulturist for feed back on the last winter affecting your Spruce.

    It may be salvageable.
