Hello all, I live outside Little Rock, AR. I have a nice, large JM (most likely bloodgood) that has been thriving the last ~6 years. The other weekend we had a mild frost (~30 F) two nights in a row. A few days later, I noticed that my JM's leaves started turning color. Now they are all dropping off. This seems to be happening to everyone's JMs in the area. I even saw it happening on JMs 20 miles away from me. Will the trees recover? Will they grow back new leaves after they finish dropping the current ones? Is there anything I can do to help my JM survive. I LOVE this tree and don't want to lose it. Thanks!
If the trees are healthy I would expect them to start pushing out fresh leaves right away. Look close and see if there are new buds. M.
Every trees have reserve bud for similar conditions, covered your maple if you list by media low temperature for the nigth .alex
