I am a very unexperienced gardner and am trying to figure out what's wrong with my dracaena marginata in my office.

I posted on another forum to ID my palm and was told it's a Dracaena Marginata.

It's leaves and new growth have been dying and one of the chutes in the pot was mushy and almost hollow so I cut it down to where it was green and healthy again. This plant was recommened by a local nursery for the space it's in, with the amount of light it gets, but it's far away from any windows, and doesn't get any indirect sunlight, so I'm thinking it may need to be moved by a window. I water it about half a liter of water every other week and by the time i rewater the soil on top is dry again. Am I still overwatering? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

The mushyness sounds like overwatering. Does that pot have drainage holes?
Your watering regime seems fine to me, but if it is not draining that is more than likely your problem.
So drainage holes and more light.
    Good luck
