help diagnosing tree disease

    I have a tree in my backyard with a large black spot on it. It is somewhat moist and attracts flies, knats, etc. I am not even sure what kind of tree this is. I have pics of the spot and of the bark and leaves, thanks

    Looks like a mulberry tree if those leaves go with it. That might help to identify the disease, which is probably a fungus.

    Just found this. Look up bacterial wetwood.
