Plant dealer could not remember what this plant is. Does anyone know? New leaves growing from center start out red or yellow and eventually turn green.

Pretty sure it's not a croton (but beautiful!), but can't say for sure what it is (very helpful, I know!). Croton leaves tend to be thinner, if still stiff, and have many thin markings. which yours doesn't seem to have (picture doesn't enlarge, so it's not easy to see). It does remind me of a rubber plant (Ficus elastica), and wonder if it could be a variety of it.

James D.--Thanks so much for your help!! I never would have guessed. It seems to like a LOT of water and bright sun, and, sure enough, is growing quickly. Thanks again!
