I recently meet this elderly lady in my twon who claims to have a 100 yr old rose that her father brought over from Ireland.I need to know if there is some way to track it down and find out the name and if it is indeed a heirloom.I'm hoping to get pis when it blooms. She is in need of money,I thought Maybe if it is worth any money I could help her out by trying to find some to buy some cutting or something.Don't know how that works but it was just a thought. If you know who I could talk to about this,I would be most grateful.
    Thanks

There's a rose identification forum at GardenWeb. There wouldn't be any economic potential unless a quantity of cuttings were rooted and grown on to market quality plants, which were then marketed successfully.

Post some pictures anyway - some of us might have seen it before.

How big is it? Is it a climber? Does it bloom once only in the year? What colour are the blooms? Are the flowers singe? How big? Fragrant? In clusters? Singly?

Well..This rose wasn't yet in bloom.Have never seen it in bloom. Was going to try and just trim out the dead stuff and make it look nice. But it had been so long since it had been trimmed it was just a big ball of thorns.Ended up cuttings it to the ground and just letting it start over.It was about 9ft. tall and about 14ft long. After i got it ut down I saw that it was really about 8 or 10 plants.Well try to get pics if it blooms this year.
